Introducing

INSTITUTE@OneCancerPlace@2x

It’s widely known that today’s physicians appreciate the informed patient. It’s the goal of The INSTITUTE @ One Cancer Place to encourage patients to be active participants in their own treatment and care decisions by providing them with evidence-based knowledge and support. One Cancer Place is leading the way in cancer literacy education for patients so that they understand why they need to take an active part in shared decision-making with their physicians.

With the introduction of The INSTITUTE @ One Cancer Place, One Cancer Place takes the lead in patient self-advocacy, offering navigational education and providing a unique and respectful pathway to survivorship. The INSTITUTE's goal is to provide access to important information for the patient seeking satisfaction for questions; e.g., “why am I having a PET scan?”, “what is the difference between chemotherapy and immunotherapies?”, “why should I not have my tumor sequenced for mutations?”, etc.

The INSTITUTE @ One Cancer Place combines patient expertise from One Cancer Place with the training and know-how from the Patient Advocates In Research (PAIR) network to help improve cancer care & research for better answers that patients and caregivers need.

The INSTITUTE has three learning pathways to help our patients/students navigate their diagnosis:

part 1

Workshops & The Library

Delivered by the leading scientists as guest professors, the INSTITUTE @ One Cancer Place offers workshop lessons on relevant issues. Some cancer-related topics to be addressed: Cancer Jargon as a Foreign Language, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Today’s Biomarkers, Diagnostic Testing Landscape, and more.

The Library features scientific discussions on cancer hosted by oncology heroes, industry professionals, as well as authentic patient and caregiver stories, bringing the reality of cancer to life.  A newer feature is the PIVOTING series: great conversations with the cancer-experienced leaders who've turned their personal "lemons" into "lemonade".
